ABOUT TRANSPERSONAL PSICHOLOGY
Transpersonal psychology is characterised as a
contribution given by scientific research to the
study and comprehension of inner experiences
of the transcendental type.
Transpersonal psychology seems to characterise
itself as a wide thought and research movement,
working towards an integration of psychological
principles and methods with spiritual practices
or shamanic rituals, in order to synthesise mind,
meditation, spirituality and transcendence, the
ordinary consciousness and extraordinary one,
mystic ecstasy or shamanic experiences.
Transpersonal psychology works for the realisation
of the self, the awakening of the spiritual nature
in each individual, and of one’s most genuine
It seems that the word ‘transpersonal’ applied in
psychology, was first used by Roberto Assagioli,
the father of “Psychosynthesis,” and then by C.G.
It refers to the areas of the psyche that go beyond
the identification with individual personality.
Transpersonal psychology thereby refers to
the particular approach that studies and develops
spirituality and spiritual experiences in a
This approach began to assert itself in the field of psychology in the 1960s, moving from the works of A. Maslow,
who first put emphasis on an “evolutive” psychology that would take into account the “development of potentialities,”
the “gradual needs satisfaction,” the “relationship between persons” involved in the therapeutic setting,
and the “mystical experiences” as basics in a self realisation process.
Biotransenergetics is a newly conceived psycho-spiritual discipline whose roots are deeply rooted in the Ancient Tradition of Shamanism and in the emerging Transpersonal Movement. It can be considered to be a Transpersonal Psychotherapy, that is, according to the definition put forward by Charles Tart, ‘a discipline for the realisation of the self for the re-awakening of the spiritual nature of every individual and his more genuinely human qualities’. Biotransenergetics is the Technology of the Sacred, which draws on a system of consciousnesses and experiences ranging from the contact with elemental forces to the Transe, to modern research into states of consciousness; from the development of the most genuinely human potential proposed by humanistic psychology to the expression of archetypes of the collective unconsciousness; from research into vision to the dialogue with guardian spirits, to the creative visualisations proposed by the most recent practices of hypnosis; from chants, mantras and dances of the various natural forces to superconsciousspaces, to the silence of meditation to the highest qualities favoured by the methodology of transpersonal psychology; from ancient ritual ceremonies to shamanic trips, to theoretical systems of holistic vision, to the principles of modern physics such as ‘non local connections’ or the ‘collapse of the wave function’; from reichianís psychophysical exercises to the work on chakras on the subject of aurics and contact with the spiritual dimension. In the light of these considerations it is obvious how Biotransenergetics, even if in a modern context, proceeds from medicine to psychotherapy (even if it only touches the borders) and transcends the limits of an exclusively psychotherapeutic practice. For this reason Biotransenergetics is recommended for anybody who wishes to realise the full expression of his Intimate Nature of Spiritual Essence, the recognition of one’s qualities and mastery of one’s States of Consciousness.

Biotransenergetics is a psycho-spiritual discipline which promotes the full expression of our “intimate nature or spiritual essence” and prefers to address the “qualities”.
It finds its roots in the “primary tradition”, fruit of the primordial yearning of the human being for understanding nature and harmonizing with it.
This original fit started the shamanism, the first “religions of nature”, which are amoral and ecstatic and believe in a “fundamental unity of creation”.
In brief, two are the most important elements in Biotransenergetics: the CONTACT and the TRANSE.
Being in “contact” with own essence means being able to grasp the fundamental unity of the creation inside oneself. We reach that contact when we learn to “stay” in front of ourselves instead of leaving.
“To stay” means to develop qualities such as the abilities of observation, listening, and acceptance. It means to develop his own firmness, his own intent, his own awareness and responsibility.
It is only in this way that we can recognize the stream of forces that live inside ourselves.
“Transe” means for us to actually become those forces rather than to oppose them. It means to develop qualities such as humility, sympathy, reliance, abandon, and love towards any manifestation of living being.
When we master the transe, we can “make one from two”, which means to create the condition to overcome any conflict, that is just the contraposition between two opposite forces. When we master the transe, we become able to transform any enemy into an ally, any symptom into a message, any force into our own force.
We can get to know the forces of the earth, of the water, of the air, of the fire, and then harmonize with them.
We can consider every event: an emotion or a wish, an obsessing thought or a guardian angel as an entity which it is possible to enter the transe with.
When we master the transe, we can find our place among the forests and the ocean, among the animals and the stones, the waterfalls and the moon, and live all these things as a manifestation of God.
